Episode: Heresy

Overview

Episode: Heresy is the third Episode of Destiny 2, following Episode: Revenant, in the episodic model that began after Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Its three acts launched on February 4, March 11 and April 1, 2025, and the episode ended on July 15, 2025. It was the last Episode, as the game returned to a seasonal model with Reclamation.

The story centers on the Dreadnaught, a Hive ship that returns powered by the Echo of Navigation and drops Eversion Anchors across the European Dead Zone. Guardians fight the Taken in the The Nether activity, then work with Commander Sloane to draw Taken power and remove the Anchors from Earth. In Act II the Echo emerges aboard the Dreadnaught in the form of Oryx, and a voice from the rift where Eris Morn fell offers hope. In Act III the fight for the Echo intensifies as Xivu Arath and Savathûn move against Eris Morn's throne.

Barrow-Dyad

The hidden Strand submachine gun Barrow-Dyad is an Exotic earned through the hidden The Taken Path questline. A secret Taken Blight appears during a Nether run; jumping into it leads to an ascendant plane where following the combat log's directions reaches a Taken Osseous Fragment. Return the fragment to Eris Morn's apartment in the Last City and interact with the slab to receive the quest. The weapon is then claimed in the Derealize exotic mission on the Dreadnaught, where it sits on a pedestal in the final arena and its boss fight begins when claimed.

Activities

Other activities added in the episode include the The Nether three-player activity inside the Dreadnaught, the Court of Blades, where champions compete for the Taken King's vacant throne, and the Rite of the Nine remixed dungeons. Guardian Games 2025 added a Rushdown competition, and Heavy Metal is a PvP vehicle battle.
