Gulch

The Gulch is a landing zone in the European Dead Zone. During Season of Defiance it started the secret AVALON exotic mission (also called NODE.OVRD.AVALON), which unlocks Vexcalibur.

Starting the mission

1. Activate six Vex network cubes in the Gulch, working along the map from a point on a large rock, under the highway overpass, through the trees on the cliff above the main road, across the open battlefield, past the rocks by the Cabal outpost door, and finally by two road signs. Each cube must be reached within the time limit, with a 30-second window per cube and about three minutes overall. Guides from different years report the per-cube window as 25 or 30 seconds.
2. Go to a small, unmarked cave on the southeast road beside a large floodlight. The back wall of the cave gives way to Vex network structures that lead down.
3. Follow the structures to a friendly Harpy, which starts the mission.

Mission

The mission runs through Vex trenches with sliding blocks, symbol puzzles and fanatics whose motes must be deposited in a central bank. The final boss fight takes place across three arenas. Guides recommend about 1800 Power and bringing supers and heavy ammo for the final fight. Vexcalibur is a Glaive whose block grants overshields to nearby teammates.
