Gusevian Gar

Overview

The Gusevian Gar is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that is completed by catching one Gusevian Gar fish. The fish is part of Fishing, which was added in Season of the Deep. The sources reviewed list it as a Rare fish (one lists a Legendary version too), so it may take several tries.

How to complete

1. Unlock fishing by completing the first weekly mission of Season of the Deep.
2. Speak to Hawthorne in the Tower to receive the fishing quest and your tackle box.
3. Collect bait. Bait drops from Salvage, Deep Dives, playlist activities, Public Events, patrols and destination materials. Each catch uses one bait, and fishing without bait lowers your chances of high-quality fish, so aim to bring about 20.
4. Fish at the ponds. The season has three ponds, one each in the EDZ, on Nessus and in Savathûn's Throne World. Check the tackle box for the spot with the increased activity buff, which improves the odds of better fish.
5. Build the Focused Fishing meter by fishing at a pond. A higher meter improves rare catches, and fishing with others fills it faster.
6. Cast with the interact button, then press it again when the bobber goes under. Press it again on the Perfect Catch prompt to reel the fish in. Missing the timing loses the fish and one bait.

Tip: Fish with a group at a pond with a high Focused Fishing meter to improve your chances of a Rare catch.
