Heavy ammo

Heavy ammo is the purple ammo type used by weapons in the Power slot: Machine Guns, Rocket Launchers, Swords, Linear Fusion Rifles and similar. It is limited, picked up from purple ammo bricks, and is the scarcest of the three types alongside Special and Primary ammo (Primary is unlimited). Slot and ammo pairings have shifted over the years (for example, some weapon types have moved between slots), so check the weapon in-game.

Heavy ammo matters most in Crucible and raids, where modes such as Checkmate Control adjust how it is earned. Artifact mods such as those on the Ascendant Scepter can generate it.
