IV. The root of unity

Overview

IV. The root of unity is a lore triumph in Destiny 2 that tracks entry IV of the lore book The Immanent. The book was added with Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate in July 2025.

The entry is narrated in the first person by Maya Sundaresh, who moves through dreamlike settings such as a glass pier, a snowfield and a museum bench. She decides she needs "new tools" and reshapes Vex units. She drains the energy from a Hobgoblin that tries to weld scrap onto its body, dismissing its creativity as a waste of mind. She then bonds a Harpy from the sea as her conductor, and the entry ends with her approving the new bond.

How to unlock

The Immanent's entries are unlocked by solving the secret chest puzzle after each encounter with the selectable bosses in the Desert Perpetual raid. Entry IV is the one that tracks this triumph, so clear each boss encounter in the raid and check for the chest puzzle after each.
