History of Io

Revision 5671 by archivist at 2026-10-01 23:24:10

Io is a former Destiny 2 patrol destination, Jupiter's moon, listed here under Echo Mesa. It was an original base-game free-roam destination for Explore activities and was removed into the Destiny Content Vault on November 10, 2020, with Titan, Mercury, Mars and the Leviathan.

Type: Explore (patrol space). Launched from the Director while it was available.
Status: vaulted since 2020-11-10. In September 2026 Bungie announced plans to restore vaulted campaigns, destinations and raids, but gave no date or specific mention of Io; restoration requires updated lighting, encounters and combatants (Game Informer). Secondary reports list Io among expected returns.
