Light-bearer

A Light-bearer is a being who wields the Light, the power granted by the Traveler. The Traveler's Ghosts revived fallen warriors as Light-bearers, and Guardians are the newer generation of them. Light-bearers who operate outside the Vanguard are often called rogue Light-bearers.

The Drifter is a rogue Light-bearer and one of the oldest surviving ones. He hosts Gambit and Gambit Prime and sells Gambit-related items. He distrusts the Light, having seen what even nominally heroic Light-wielders did during the Dark Age, and he sees Light and Darkness as equally dangerous tools.

His ties to the Vanguard are uneasy. The Vanguard tacitly approves of his experiments with Darkness, while the Warlock Aunor Mahal monitors him. He has aided the Vanguard on missions such as the Titan rescue and the Dreadnaught investigation, and he believes the Light alone cannot defeat the coming Darkness.
