Loot Cache

A '''Loot Cache''' is a faction-themed treasure chest found in the public areas of patrol zones in Destiny 2. Its design is based on the enemy factions of each location. Anyone can open a cache, and each player can claim their own rewards until the chest disappears.

Locations

Caches spawn at specific spots within a Sector, and the game picks one of those spots at random. Tracking Ghost Mods such as Loot Seeker and Expert Tracker display a waypoint when a cache is nearby.

Rewards

Opening a cache grants Glimmer and a planetary material that depends on the destination, such as Spinmetal Leaves on the Cosmodrome or Dusklight Shards in the EDZ. Some locations give reputation instead of a material; on Derelict Leviathan the cache grants Crown Influence.

Not to be confused with

Region Chests are a separate type. They do not respawn once opened, and their opened status is tracked per character.
