Overview

'''Nightmare Hunt: Insanity''' is one of the eight Nightmare Hunts, short strike-like activities added with Destiny 2: Shadowkeep (released October 1, 2019). It is set on The Moon and ends with a fight against the Nightmare of the Fanatic, a recreation of a past enemy from the Destiny story.

== How to launch ==

Complete the Shadowkeep campaign, then launch the hunt from the Moon destination map. Only three of the eight hunts are available each week, so Insanity is only on offer during its rotation.

== Difficulty and power ==

Difficulty tiers are Adept, Hero, Legend and Master; matchmaking is available only on the lower tiers, and higher tiers add modifiers and Champions. Master was set at Power 980 at launch (sources differ by season, as power values were raised in later seasons and the listing for this hunt shows 1080 or similar in later seasons). Hero released October 8, Legend October 15 and Master October 22, 2019.

Encounters and mechanics

You fight through enemy waves, then face the Fanatic. The boss cycles through immunity phases during which you must kill Nightmare adds to resume damage. Dreambane armor or mods help against Nightmare enemies.

Rewards

Completing a hunt gives a Nightmare Essence used with the Lectern of Enchantment to craft Dreambane gear; Master hunts offer Pinnacle-tier gear, and a Powerful drop is available for completing three hunts per week.

Availability

Nightmare Hunts have been reworked across seasons (the weekly rotation and Master versions persisted into later seasons, e.g. Season of the Lost); check in-game for current availability, as this wiki has not confirmed whether they are vaulted.
