History of Primary ammo

Overview

Primary ammo is one of Destiny 2’s three ammo types, alongside Special ammo and Heavy ammo. It is shown by a white icon and has unlimited reserves, so weapons that use it do not need ammo pickups. Bungie introduced infinite reserves for all Primary ammo weapons with Season of the Lost in August 2021. Primary ammo weapons usually handle rank-and-file enemies; ammo type is separate from weapon slot, so Primary and Special weapons can both occupy the first or second weapon slot. The weapon types that use Primary ammo include Auto Rifles, SMGs, Sidearms, Pulse Rifles, Scout Rifles, Hand Cannons and Bows; verify the weapon’s ammo icon where a weapon has an unusual configuration.
