Rite of Proving

Overview

The Rite of Proving is an ancient Cabal trial by combat used to settle disputes and decide leadership. Combatants ring the Bell of Conquests and fight until one concedes or dies; the winner can seize the loser's possessions with the Hammer of Proving. Calus corrupted it with an Imperial Arbiter. Caiatl revived it in the Sol System to recruit for her War Council, banning criminals and unfair tactics and allowing non-lethal combat. Rites took place on Nessus, Europa and the Cosmodrome, and relate to Battlegrounds.
