Scorch
Overview
Scorch is a Solar debuff that deals damage over time. Each application adds a stack, and more stacks mean more damage over time. Solar abilities (grenades, melee and sometimes Super) and certain weapons apply it. Scorch fades over time. Some player reports say it lingers for a few seconds before decaying, but these are community observations rather than official figures.
Ignition
When enough Scorch stacks build up on one enemy, the target ignites. In Destiny 2, that means an explosion that damages the target and nearby enemies, which makes it useful for clearing groups. The damage of an Ignition decreases based on the target's level. Solar explosions can also be triggered directly without waiting for a full stack count. Some reports say Scorch stacks reach a cap of 100 before igniting, but players have found it does not always ignite reliably, as enemies can die from Scorch damage first.
See Ember of Char for a related Fragment that spreads Scorch when Solar Ignitions occur.
