Shadowrift

A Shadowrift is a Hive transport circle that brings Hive into an area and must be disabled to progress. Guardians stand in its center to disable it while Hive Acolytes spawn there, and destroying the crystals that sustain it summons a Severing Knight. It first appeared in Warmind and returned in Beyond Light, where it shows up in Escalation Protocol waves. In the Cold Boot mission on the Cosmodrome, Ghost has you purge a nearby Shadowrift by waiting for a meter to fill and then destroying its crystals.
