History of Splinter Mine

A Splinter Mine is a hovering Fallen mine protected by a shield that makes it immune to damage; it must be disarmed by standing near it so your Ghost can defuse it. Failure usually causes a massive explosion across the whole fight area, lethal to all participants. Destinypedia lists the House of Judgment, Scorn, Kell's Scourge and House of Exile as users. In some activities, fake mines matching real ones by letter appear; real ones show glowing exposed internals.

Where it matters

In the Tangled Shore adventure Target: The Mad Bomber (from Destiny 2: Forsaken), Kaniks, the Mad Bomber teleports away and transmats a Splinter Mine that kills nearby Guardians unless defused, while Screebs and Ravagers attack.
