The Gatehouse

Overview

The Gatehouse is an area in the Ocean of Storms on the Moon. It first appeared in Destiny and returned in Shadowkeep. It connects to the Circle of Bones and the Hellmouth, the Hive-controlled region beneath the Moon's surface. In Destiny the enemies here were the Spawn of Crota and the House of Exile; in Destiny 2 the Hidden Swarm.

Story

The remains of Brya, the Ghost of Eris Morn, are found here. Brya sacrificed herself on the mission to assassinate Crota so that Eris could escape the Hive; her remains stayed in the Hellmouth and were later found at the Gatehouse. The area once held a massive chain linked to an unknown mechanism. Two years after the Red War the Gatehouse still stands, but it looks more desolate and the chain appears to have been removed.
