History of The Opening

Overview

The Opening is the Episode: Heresy collection Triumph for 60 chess pieces. Its groups cover the Dreadnaught, other destinations, Court of Blades, the Drifter, Ambition and Resolve. The pieces are associated with the En Passant chess puzzle.

How to complete

Work through each collection group rather than repeatedly searching the same area:

• Collect the 24 fixed pieces in The Nether, checking all four main areas and using the nearby collectible marker to find pieces above or below the immediate route.
• Collect 11 pieces outside the Dreadnaught: two on Europa, two in the European Dead Zone, four in Eris Morn's Apartment and three in the Tower. The Europa pieces are near Elsie Bray and the Clovis Bray head; the EDZ pieces are near the Sludge portal route and a cliff beside Winding Cove.
• Collect six through Ambition and Resolve interactions. Defeat enemies for their relevant orbs and collect them; for Resolve, break the large orb and collect the smaller ones.
• Collect five in Court of Blades: search its three arenas, buy the path-specific rune upgrade, and finish the activity for its completion piece.
• Return to the Drifter as collection progresses and collect his five offered pieces.
• Collect nine from secrets in The Nether, including optional secret encounters and chests.

Rewards and availability

The collection awarded Strange Coins and helped supply the pieces for En Passant. The original Heresy activities were removed with The Edge of Fate, so the complete original collection route is no longer obtainable.
