History of Traveler

Overview

The Traveler is a massive, spherical paracausal entity hovering above the Last City. It is the primary source of Light in the Destiny universe. It empowers Guardians through Ghosts, which it created in its last breath to find people who could wield its Light. It also projects a shield over the Last City. The Traveler was largely inactive after the Collapse, when the Black Fleet attacked.

The Traveler's ancient enemy is The Witness, which tried to unite the Traveler with the Veil to enact the Final Shape. The Witness took control of the Traveler's Light before the Guardians destroyed it. The Pale Heart is a domain of the Traveler's consciousness, which the Witness corrupted.
