History of Worm

Overview

The Worm Gods are the Hive's ancient parasitic deities, who originated from the gas giant Fundament and grew from "proto-Worms" into huge serpentine beings after being seduced by Sword Logic. They serve as the Hive's highest religious authority, above even Oryx and his sisters, and ultimately serve The Witness.

Worms and the Hive

Worms exist both as god-sized beings (Xol spans hundreds of meters, Xita kilometers) and as smaller larvae that live symbiotically inside Hive bodies, granting power and long life. They drive the Hive to conquest, and a host that fails to feed is consumed by its worm. Lightbearer Hive of the Lucent Brood lack worms.
