History of A Taken Path

A Taken Path is a hidden Exotic quest in Episode: Heresy. Completing it unlocks the Derealize Exotic mission, and the first clear of Derealize awards the Barrow-Dyad Strand submachine gun.

Overview

The quest starts with a hidden Taken Blight that spawns randomly during a Nether run at the Mausoleum, Hall of Souls, or Trenchway near the Dreadnaught. Stepping into the Blight leads to a plate, and following the combat-log direction brings the player to a Taken Osseous Fragment. The fragment is turned in at the slab in Eris Morn's apartment in the Last City to receive the quest.

Walkthrough

1. Clear the K1 Revelation Lost Sector and defeat the Taken Ogre boss for a fragment.
2. Clear the Veles Labyrinth Lost Sector and defeat the Taken Phalanx boss for another fragment.
3. Complete the three curses (Endurance, Urgency and Revenge). Each uses a Taken relic. Revenge is tied to the Nightmare Hunt: Pride playlist and may be gated by the weekly rotation.
4. Claim three fragments from Hive statues in the Dreadnaught's patrol spaces.
5. Complete the Derealize Exotic mission from the Director's Nether playlists.

Rewards

Barrow-Dyad is awarded on the first Derealize clear. Later clears and mission secrets unlock Exotic Catalysts, which one source says were time-gated for a few weeks after release.
