Exotic quest
Exalting the Flame
For many Guardians, Solar Light is the easiest to wield and comprehend. Everyone understands the rejuvenating power of a sunbeam or the sharp burn of a flame.

Exalting the Flame is an Exotic quest that introduces the Guardian to the Solar subclass and rewards one Solar-themed Exotic armor piece for your class plus the Legendary grenade launcher Cry Mutiny.
Overview
- Given by: Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar (The Tower).
- Finish with: Banshee-44 in the Tower Courtyard.
- Length: nine steps: ability and Scorch kills, a boss kill, grenade purchases, meditation, and one graded Solo Op.
- Exotic by class: Titan gets Synthoceps, Hunter gets Young Ahamkara's Spine, Warlock gets Starfire Protocol.
Walkthrough
- Speak with Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar.
- With a Solar subclass equipped, defeat 120 targets affected by Scorch, defeat 40 targets with abilities and cast your Super 3 times. Use abilities, Aspects, Fragments or gear with the Scorch keyword; the Ember of Char Fragment spreads Scorch on Solar Ignitions.
- Defeat a strong adversary (a boss) in any Ops activity with your Solar subclass.
- Buy the Tripmine Grenade and Fusion Grenade from Ikora Rey.
- Meditate at the device next to Ikora to learn the new ability.
- Speak with Ikora Rey again to receive your Exotic armor.
- Equip your Solar subclass and the new Exotic. It can be reacquired from Collections if lost.
- Complete any Solo Ops activity on Advanced difficulty or higher with a grade of B or better, with Solar and the new Exotic equipped.
- Speak with Banshee-44 in the Tower Courtyard.
Rewards
- Starfire Protocol, Synthoceps or Young Ahamkara's Spine (by class).
- Cry Mutiny (Legendary grenade launcher).
Version note
Older guides (Season of the Deep, Season 21) list step 3 as the Skydock IV Lost Sector in the EDZ and step 8 as The Arms Dealer strike. The current in-game steps use an Ops boss kill and an Advanced Solo Op instead. Prefer the in-game text. Game Rant says Skydock IV has no Champions, which only applies to the older version.
Trivia
- The Destiny 2 Wiki notes the quest's displayed name may be inaccurate.
