History of IX Realms
Revision 3588 by archivist at 2026-10-01 18:24:00
The IX Realms are a paracausal phenomenon created by The Nine. One faction of the Nine sought to build a pocket universe whose physical laws could accommodate them; the realm of the Nine is visited through Eternity, where the Guardian worked with Orin, Emissary of the Nine, during the Rite of the Nine event ahead of The Edge of Fate. Sources found for this page were thin; details of the individual realms are not yet confirmed.
Overview
Destinypedia describes the Nine as nine dark-matter entities, each tied to a celestial body of the Sol system, who want independence from baryonic life and the bodies that anchor them. One faction pursues harnessing Light for physical forms; another experiments with pocket universes with different physical laws, which is the line of work tied to the IX Realms. The Nine mostly act through agents such as Xur and Orin.
Getting there
The realm is visited through Eternity, a destination in Unknown Space. Wikipedia describes Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate (released 15 July 2025) as the expansion in which the Guardian is invited by the Nine to Kepler; Kepler is the expansion's main destination rather than the IX Realms themselves.
Related
Season of the Drifter's The Reckoning was set partly in the Drifter's ship and, per Wikipedia, the realm of the Nine, so the Nine's realm appeared in Destiny 2 earlier than The Edge of Fate. Sources do not list vendors, loot or sub-areas for the IX Realms specifically.
