History of Iron Banner

Iron Banner is a recurring Crucible event in Destiny 2 hosted by Lord Saladin, where players earn Iron Banner reputation and exclusive weapons and armor. It is launched from the Crucible node on the Director while the event is live; it usually runs for around two weeks and several times per season, and Trials of Osiris does not run while it is active (TheGamer). Wikipedia notes it required finishing the campaign and reaching level 20 originally and that, since Forsaken, balancing (no power advantage) mirrors the original game; check the in-game tile for the current rules, as they have changed between seasons.
Modes
- Control: capture zones; the Iron Banner version adds "The Hunt", where holding all three zones briefly boosts kill points.
- Fortress: Control variant with a bonus Cabal-guarded zone.
- Rift: Spark-carrying capture-the-flag; first to 5 points wins.
- Tribute: collect crests from defeated opponents and bank them at Cabal beacons.
- Eruption: Clash-style team deathmatch with kill-streak energy bonuses (added Season 18).
- Older modes: Clash, Supremacy.
Rewards
Reputation ranks (boosted by daily challenges and by equipping Iron Banner gear) unlock seasonal Iron Banner weapons, armor sets and cosmetics. Rewards rotate each season, so see the season's page. Related: Iron Banner Rank.
