Let Brutality be Thy Whetstone

Overview

"Let Brutality be Thy Whetstone" is a Triumph in Destiny 2 worth 10 points. It asks you to find the catalyst for the Exotic Scout Rifle Wicked Implement. The weapon itself comes from a hidden exotic quest, so the triumph is effectively the last step of that chain.

How to complete

You need Wicked Implement before you can work on its catalyst. Get the weapon first:

1. Catch three Exotic fish: Whispering Mothcarp in the Throne World, Vexing Placoderm on Nessus, and Aeonian Alpha-Betta in the European Dead Zone.
2. Deposit the fish in the aquarium at the H.E.L.M. to receive three Broken Blades.
3. In the seasonal Deep Dive, place one blade in each of three statues: before the first encounter, after the first encounter, and past the spinning blades.
4. After the Deep Dive, go through the new door and start the Whetstone encounter. Choose "Carve a Path of Violence."
5. Clear the enemies and both bosses within the time limit.
6. Claim power from the Winnower statue to receive Wicked Implement.

For the catalyst, complete a Tier 7 Deep Dive. Tier 7 is the dependable source for it.

Catalyst

Wicked Implement's catalyst offers two perks:

• Hadopelagic Tribute: collected Stasis shards slowly overflow the magazine beyond its normal capacity.
• Headstone: precision final blows spawn a Stasis crystal at the target's location.

Upgrading the catalyst requires 700 enemies defeated with Wicked Implement.

A 2023 preview expected the catalyst to be a random drop from Deep Dives instead; the Tier 7 requirement is the one reflected in the current guides.
