Skill-Based Matchmaking

Overview

Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) is the matchmaking pool used in Trials of Osiris for players with a Flawless Passage.

How it applies

Players with a Lighthouse Passage are placed in Open Matchmaking until they visit the Lighthouse, and then move to SBMM. Resetting the passage returns them to the Open pool. A Flawless Passage is earned by reaching the Lighthouse with seven consecutive wins. Its holder is entered into an SBMM pool with other Flawless players, and the passage cannot be reset. It stays until the holder loses.

Trials rules have been reworked more than once. This description follows a guide last updated in February 2025 for Episode: Heresy, and it may not reflect later changes.
