Sun Blast

Overview

Sun Blast is the exotic trait on Sunshot, an Exotic Hand Cannon with Solar damage. Targets killed with Sunshot explode in Solar energy and scorch other nearby enemies. Explosions can set off further explosions from other kills, and enemies that survive the first blast are scorched.

Use

Guides rate Sunshot highly in PvE, because Sun Blast explosions deal strong damage and clear groups. In PvP it is rated solidly as well, with its explosive rounds from Sunburn making enemies flinch.

Catalyst

The Sunshot catalyst requires 500 weapon kills and 1,000 Sun Blast kills. It adds +27 Range and +18 Stability. It can drop at the end of Crucible, Gambit or Vanguard Ops activities, and since Update 7.3.5 competitive wins have a higher chance of dropping it.

Obtaining the weapon

Sunshot has no dedicated quest and is not sold at the Monument to Lost Lights. It comes from random drops and from Xûr's rotation.
