History of The Chaperone

Overview

The Chaperone is an Exotic Kinetic Shotgun from the Tex Mechanica foundry. Its intrinsic perk, Precision Slug, fires a single precision slug, and its trait The Roadborn grants bonus handling, range and precision damage after precision kills. It has very high range and handling but low stability and reload speed. Amanda Holliday's lore says it belonged to her mother Nora. Versions: rate of fire raised to 70 RPM in 2.2.0; range bonus cut in 4.0.0.1.

Acquisition

• Blast from the Past: Exotic quest requiring Beyond Light; hand data to Banshee-44.
• Tex Mechanica Tournament: Crucible quest (reach the rank of Brave) requiring the Forsaken pack.
• Historically, Destiny 1 used the Jolly Holliday quest, and Forsaken used Holliday Family History (Destinypedia); these may be superseded.

Catalyst

Added in June 2026. PC Gamer’s June 10, 2026 guide lists Triple Tap and says the catalyst is likely from Vanguard Ops, Crucible, Gambit, or Exotic Order payouts in the Seasonal Hub. The guide describes this source as likely; a later route was not independently confirmed. Complete the catalyst’s in-game target-defeat objective to unlock it.
