The Portal
Overview
The Portal is an activity menu introduced with The Edge of Fate. It groups PvE and PvP activities into Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible Ops and Arena Ops. It also links to the current expansion's Destination, the Seasonal Hub, the Tower and any active Event Home.
Categories
- Solo Ops: one Guardian, objective-based, about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Fireteam Ops: 1 to 3 players, curated from earlier three-Guardian activities such as Strikes and Onslaught, scored on eliminations.
- Pinnacle Ops: 1 to 3 players, objective-based. These hold the Exotic Missions, and only a few have matchmaking, with daily Bonus Focus rewards.
- Crucible Ops: PvP modes with 1 to 6 players, scored individually.
- Arena Ops: 1 to 6 players, objective-based, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Difficulty and rewards
A higher difficulty raises the Challenge Multiplier, which is shared by the fireteam. The Reward Multiplier comes from the modifiers chosen and from each player's highest Power level. Up to five Challenge Modifiers can be selected per activity. Crucible Ops use a Crucible Reward Multiplier based on the player's Crucible rank. Progress from these activities feeds Orders.
