Cryptarchy

The Cryptarchy is the collective of Cryptarchs, Crypto-Archaeologists who study Engrams and other Golden Age artifacts. Cryptarchs decode Engrams so the item inside is created, a process called decoding.

Branches

The Tower Cryptarchy represents the Last City and works from the cryptarium. It offers its services to Guardians freely. Its notable members include Tyra Karn, the founding member and leader, along with Matsuo, Master Rahool, Master Reinhart and Yareli.

The Reef Cryptarchy represents the Reef and works from libraries such as the one on 10 Hygiea. It regards the Engram as the purest state of matter and focuses on protecting civilisation's information infrastructure. Its Cryptarchs decode Engrams for Guardians reluctantly, mainly to advance the science. Notable members include Master Ives (deceased) and Sjalla.

The two branches do not always cooperate.
