Morphology

Morphology is a story mission of The Edge of Fate, part of the Outer Steppes Strangelet quest. It begins at step 5 of that quest, where the Guardian searches for another strangelet capsule with Dr. Carnahan. Completing it unlocks the side quest Dark Academia, in which the Guardian and Ikora Rey investigate an Aionian device.

Walkthrough

1. After the portal train, chase Felciks, a member of the House of Exiles who tries to escape. Hit the nearby switch to open the door, then fight through the Exiles.
2. In the open area Felciks is immune to damage. Use Mattermorph to overcharge a nearby pylon, which drops Arc Charges. After two Arc Charges hit him, his immunity ends and you can damage him. He drops Artifacts as you wound him, so pick them up while you fight and during the pursuit.
3. He flees into a facility, where you repeat the Arc Charge process. A Relocator above a room entrance activates a teleporter that takes you past the lasers. Shoot or slip through the lasers that detonate mines.
4. In the final area, use Mattermorph to alter the highlighted materials and reach Felciks's hiding spot. Defeat him in the final room, and loot the chests inside it.

Rewards

The mission gives Mattermorph, the ability used throughout the Edge of Fate, and chests in the final room. Completing it lets you progress The Outer Steppes Strangelet quest.

Trivia

Some parts of Dark Academia stay locked until step 19 of the main quest is complete.
