Overview
The Nether is a roguelike activity from Episode: Heresy, set aboard the Dreadnaught in the rings of Saturn. It is launched from Eris Morn's apartment in the Last City and plays like the Deep Dive and the Coil: limited revives, health regeneration disabled by default, and random boons.
Mechanics
- Spend Sigil Shards (earned from chests) to upgrade your Tome of Want and unlock runes before entering.
- Each of five areas has randomized objectives; complete three to reach a mini-boss, then the area boss. The run ends after the third round.
- Boons come in minor, major and corrupted forms.
- Bosses by area: Lezrel, Eversion Channeler (The Trenchway), Kelrosh, Spawn Keeper (The Mausoleum), Hashon of Endless Horrors (The Founts), Herald of the Weapon (Hall of Souls) and Irkaril of Xivu Arath (Hull Breach).
Difficulty
- Advanced (also a Private variant): matchmaking, power starts at 0 with a -5 penalty per room.
- Expert: no matchmaking; adds Champions, Banes and Overcharge.
- Exploration: see The Nether: Explore.
Rewards
Reputation with the Essence of Desire vendor, Sigil Shards, Heresy weapons and armor, materials and Metasized Essentia. Rewards are influenced by active rituals in the Tome of Want.
