Dungeon
The Shattered Throne
Strike back at the curse that plagues the Dreaming City.
Overview
The Shattered Throne is the first Dungeon in the Destiny series, set in the Dreaming City for 1-3 players. It debuted on September 25, 2018 with the Forsaken expansion, and required ownership of Forsaken. It was originally tied to full curse weeks in the Dreaming City, but became permanently selectable from the Director after Shadowkeep. Recommended power has been reset over time (550 at launch, 1600 for The Final Shape, 300 after the Edge of Fate reset). Checkpoints let you pause and resume. The dungeon takes place in the Ascendant Plane, against the Taken.
Encounters
- Erebus (the Labyrinth). Navigate a maze of ruins, killing Labyrinth Architect minibosses in each tower area. Projected symbols point to the next destination, and the route changes between runs. Expect Taken Acolytes, Phalanxes and Captains along the way.
- The Descent. Traverse thin rafters while Taken Ogres fire projectiles that can knock you into the void, then cross a Shadow Thrall corridor where sprint and jump are disabled and Thrall spawn endlessly.
- Vorgeth, the Boundless Hunger. Widely considered the hardest part of the original dungeon. Four Keeper of Petitions Wizards spawn, each with two Taken Vandals and two Taken Goblins. Killing a Wizard gives you a timed Petitioner's Mark debuff; collect marks, use them to extinguish a flame (sigil) around the boss, and its immunity shield drops for a damage phase. Clear the adds first (the sniper Vandals hit hard), then take the Wizards one at a time.
- Dul Incaru, the Eternal Return. Final boss. Kill three Fatesmith Knights (Abyssal Champions) to get stacks of Finite Thoughts, which are needed to damage the boss before the buff timer expires, while Taken Psions flood the small arena. Crystals must be destroyed during damage phases. Sources differ on the exact wording.
Rewards
- Wish-Ender Exotic bow, via a quest (reported as the Hunter's Remembrance quest in which three hidden enemies are defeated across the dungeon).
- Reprised Dreaming City Legendary weapons: Vouchsafe (scout rifle), Retold Tale (shotgun), Waking Vigil and Sleepless.
- Armor: the Reverie Dawn set (original) and Techeun's Regalia (reprised).
- Powerful gear drops from the bosses, and hidden chests during the run.
