The Moon is the Earth's moon and a destination in Destiny 2 introduced in the Shadowkeep expansion (1 October 2019). It is home to a derelict Pyramid buried beneath the Scarlet Keep, a sign of the Darkness, and is overrun by Hive, Fallen and Vex forces and by Nightmares conjured from Guardians' pasts.

Overview

The Moon has two landing zones: the Sanctuary in the south, an enemy-free area with Eris Morn and the Lectern of Enchantment, and a second landing zone near the Scarlet Keep at Sorrow's Harbor in the north. Enemy factions on patrol are the Hive (the hidden Swarm), House of Dusk Fallen, and Sol Divisive Vex. The Moon was rebuilt at roughly twice its Destiny 1 size.

How to get there

Requires Shadowkeep. Launch from the Director; the campaign begins with Eris Morn's call. The Sanctuary landing zone lies in the Ocean of Storms region.

Regions

Vendors and NPCs

Eris Morn and the Lectern of Enchantment are the Moon's vendors, in the Sanctuary.

Activities

Lost Sectors (K1 Communion, K1 Logistics, K1 Crew Quarters), the Altars of Sorrow public event, weekly Nightmare hunts (with difficulty tiers), and champion-hosting private areas. Planetary materials are Helium Filaments; Phantasmal Fragments drop from defeated Nightmares. Shadowkeep also added the Garden of Salvation raid and the Pit of Heresy dungeon (Prophecy came later).

Lore

During the Golden Age the Moon hosted colonies; after the Collapse the Hive occupied it under Crota, and early Guardian attempts to retake it ended in the catastrophic Great Disaster. The Pyramid under the Scarlet Keep, discovered during Shadowkeep, belonged to Nezarec, a Disciple of the Witness, and set the Guardians against Hive and Vex while Eris Morn hunted the Nightmares.

History

Shadowkeep's four seasons were Season of the Undying, Season of Dawn, Season of the Worthy and Season of Arrivals. Later seasons changed what is available on the Moon.
