Val Ma'rag

Val Ma'rag was a Barant Cabal Incendior of the rank Val and a former Red Legion officer. He held a dead zone on Earth for years against Hive attacks after his superiors died without support. When Empress Caiatl returned to reclaim the Legion, he wagered his Vita Brevis with Avrok to win a place on her War Council. To earn her favor he attacked the Hive nests in the Cosmodrome, underestimated their numbers and was overwhelmed. Guardians defeated him in a Rite of Proving during Battleground: Foothold. He first appeared in Season of the Chosen.

In Battleground: Foothold he is the final boss. He starts inside an unbreachable Portable Cabal Shield near the crashed Seeder ship at Skywatch, and it is advised to destroy the Scorpius turrets first. At each third of his health he summons a Shieldbearer Champion to restore his immunity shield, and Hive reinforcements join the fight. His weapon is a Solar Cabal Magma Launcher. When he falls the Cabal retreat and the activity completes.
